Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. --- Four different WPI field hockey players tallied goals and freshman netminder Liz Dufresne registered her first career shutout as WPI blanked visiting Smith 5-0 in the season finale for both squads. The Engineers close out the 2010 campaign with a 5-12 overall record and 1-7 mark in the NEWMAC while Smith finishes 4-12 on the season and 0-8 in conference play.
WPI opened the game by rattling off the first 11 shots of the contest. They finally dented the scoring column at 13:03 when Paige Hanson deposited a Sasha Marokhovsky pass into the bottom right corner at 13:02. Just over three minutes later, Marokhovsky found Megan Read, who tapped in her fourth goal of the season to push the advantage to 2-0.
The second half started off tight as Smith had two goals called back before Marokhovsky made it 3-0 by burying a feed from Hanson at 49:47. Read found the back of the cage with an unassisted marker at 56:51 before Meghan Linskey, WPI's lone senior, capped her collegiate career by knocking home a rebound at 64:50 for her fifth goal of the year and 11th of her career.
Dufresne collected six saves en route to picking her second win of the fall. The Crimson and Gray were aided by a first half defensive save by Katye Milligan, her team-best 11th of the season.

Emma Camilleri chipped in with a defensive save for the Pioneers.
Natalie Wickles and
Dari Goulden combined for five shots to highlight the Smith offensive attack.
Smith concludes their season with a 4-12 mark, a one win improvement from 2009. The Pioneers lose only one player for the 2011 season.
