Reim, Pioneers Dunk Blazers For First Win

CHICOPEE, Mass.--Sophomore Emma Reim was a part of four wins as the Smith College swimming and diving team knocked off Elms College 141-121 on Tuesday night.  

Reim took individual wins in the 800 meter freestyle, the 200 meter fly, 400 meter freestyle, and completed the night by swimming the second leg of the 400 meter freestyle relay as the Pioneers (1-1) earned their first win of the season.

Reim and Kelsey Swensen ran 1-2 in the 800 free to earn 13 critical points for Smithwith Reim finishing in 10:10.08, and Swensen adding a 10:46.47 time.

Mackenzie Bradley earned the first of her two wins with a 2:19.84 finish in the 200 meter freestyle, and Ariel Orr (1:22.88) and Victoria Wu (1:26.51) finished 2-3 in the 100 meter breaststroke.  Reim and Rebecca Rosen then dominated the 200 meter fly, with Reim winning in 2:54.72, and Rosen right behind in 2:55.13, 26 seconds ahead of the third place swimmer.  

Lily Seidman took second place in the 200 meter backstroke, finishing in 2:39.25, and Reim, Bradley, and Swensen took the top three places in the 400 meter freestyle to keep Smith in front.  Bradley then added her second win of the night and fourth in the last two meets with a 1:14.07 finish in the 100 meter fly, beating out Devon Degrazia of Elms by .26 seconds.  

The relay team of Robin Currens, Reim, Lauren Kauffman, and Bradley then wrapped up the night with a four second win in the 400 meter freestyle relay, finishing in 4:22.68.  

The win was at least the fifth consecutive year that Smith has beaten Elms.  The Pioneers will look to keep another streak going when they taken on Westfield State University on Saturday, November 20.  Smith has not lost to the Owls since the 2006-07 season.
