Box Score POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.--Anna Schroder notched a hat-trick to lift Vassar College over Smith College in the championship game of the Betty Richey Field Hockey Championship on Sunday afternoon.
The goals came fast and furious in the first half - Vassar opened the scoring on Libby Feltch's unassisted marker, but Smith countered just 42 seconds later on a goal from Nomindari Goulden to level the score.
Just 1:28 after Goulden's goal, Schroder put Vassar back in front when she deflected a shot from the point, and then made it 3-1 at the 22:03 mark.
Smith (1-2) pulled within a goal just before halftime, when first-year Alexandra Stein put home a pass from
Natalie Wickles (Hatfield, Mass./Smith Academy), but Schroder put the game out of reach for Vassar (2-2) with her third goal of the game six minutes into the second half.
Junior
Sora Harris-Vincent (Plainfield, Vt./U-32) made seven saves in net for Smith.
Smith will be back in action on Wednesday, September 15, when they travel to Elms College.
