Game Preview: Swimming and Diving vs. Elms

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--The Smith College swimming and diving squad (0-1) will make their home debut when they host Elms College (2-1) in a dual meet on Tuesday night at Dalton Swimming Pool. 

Last Year: Smith defeated Elms 141-121 for their first win of the season.  Mackenzie Bradley (Sherwood, Ore./Sherwood) won the 200 meter freestyle and the 100 meter butterfly, while Emma Reim (Ledyard, Conn./Ledyard) won the 800 meter freestyle, the 200 meter butterfly, the 400 meter freestyle, and swam the second leg of the 400 meter freestyle relay.

Smith Overview: Mackenzie Bradley recorded two wins as the Smith College swimming and diving team fell to Springfield 164-123 on Saturday.  Bradley won both the 1,000 yard freestyle and the 500 yard freestyle.  In the 1,000, Bradley was completely dominant, touching the wall in 11:02.21, setting a new personal best by nearly four seconds and outpacing her nearest competitor by 29 seconds.  She was also outstanding in the 500 free, finishing in 5:24.62 and winning by 11 seconds over the second place swimmer.   Alyssa Pascuzzo (Scottsdale, Ariz./Notre Dame Prep) also won the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:04.22, while Paige Christie took second in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:25.82, missing out on first place by .10 seconds.

Elms Overview: The Blazers won their first dual meet of the season with a 132-106 win over St. Joseph's (Maine) on Saturday.  Diana Borys won the 100 meter butterfly and the was part of the winning unit that took the 200 meter medley relay.  Tessa Dudunake, Ashley Kirchner, and Devon DeGrazia all won two events apiece for Elms, with Dudunake (50 meter free) and DeGrazia (200 meter backstroke) both set new school records.

Did you know?  Elms was chartered in 1928, 57 years after Smith was chartered.
