Game Preview: Swimming and Diving vs. Westfield State

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--The Smith College swimming and diving team (1-1) will take on Westfield State University (0-1) in a dual meet at Dalton Pool on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.  The Pioneers will look to defeat the Owls for the fifth consecutive year.

Last Year: Mackenzie Bradley (Sherwood, Ore./Sherwood) won three events, placing first in the 1,000 and 500 freestyle, and the 200 butterfly, while Ariel Orr (Hamden, Conn./Harare International School) won both the 100 and 200 breaststroke as the Pioneers beat Westfield State 160-125 on November 20, 2010.

Smith Overview: The Pioneers earned their first win of the season with a 157-120 victory over Elms College on Tuesday night.  Bradley captured the 200 freestyle in 2:06.64 and the 200 backstroke in 2:25.28.  Paige Christie (N. Andover, Mass./Austin Prep), Emily Clark (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee), and Alyssa Pascuzzo (Scottsdale, Ariz./Notre Dame Prep) won the 1,000 free, the 100 breaststroke, and the 100 fly, respectively, while Karen Fryefield (Eugene, Ore./Eugene) won the three meter dive and Jenika Parson (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) won the one meter dive.

Westfield State Overview: The Owls won five events at the non-scoring UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on November 12, including the 200 medley relay.  Katie Cox won the 100 backstroke, and Kirsten LaMotte the 100 breaststroke, while Kim Schmidt won the one meter and three meter dives.
