NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--After a weekend off from competition, the Smith College swimming and diving team (0-1) gets back in the pool when they travel to Elms College (1-2) for a dual meet at 7 p.m.
Last Year: Smith posted a 157-120 win over Elms to earn their first dual meet win of the year. Six different Pioneers earned at least one win, including a pair of victories for
Mackenzie Bradley (Sherwood, Ore./Sherwood) (200 free, 200 back) and a sweep of the diving events by
Karen Fryefield (Eugene, Ore./Eugene) and
Jenika Parson (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck).
Smith Overview: Bradley earned two more wins in a 171-117 dual meet loss to Springfield College a week ago, with victories in the 1,000 free and the 200 fly. The Pioneers also received a 2-3 finish from
Robin Currens (Frederick, Md./Gov. Johnson) and
Laura Nunnelly (Amherst, Mass./Amherst) in the 100 backstroke, and a second place finish in the 200 medley relay from Currens,
Ariel Orr (Hamden, Conn./Harare International School),
Alyssa Pascuzzo (Scottsdale, Ariz./Notre Dame Prep), and
Meredith Millman (Syosset, N.Y./Jerich).
Elms Overview: The Blazers fell in a close 110-101 dual meet to St. Joseph's of Maine on Saturday. Emmalee Furtek posted three wins for Elms, in the 50 free, 50 fly, and 100 IM.
Did you know? All but one member of the Elms' swimming and diving team are from Massachusetts. All but five members of the Smith swimming and diving team are
not from Massachusetts.
