Game Preview: Swimming and Diving vs. Wellesley

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--Though it's the first meet of the New Year, it's also the final home meet of the season for the Smith College swimming and diving team, who will host Wellesley College in a dual meet on Saturday.

Last Meeting: The Blue won a dual meet in Wellesley by a score of 199-101 on February 14, 2012.  Jenika Parson took first in the 3-meter diving competition, recording a score of 266.90, while taking second on the 1-meter board (273.10), just four points off the winner. Mackenzie Bradley (Sherwood, Ore./Sherwood) won the 500-free in a time of 5:28.87, while recording second place finishes in the 200-fly (2:21.43) and the 1,000-free (11:12.01).  Alyssa Pascuzzo (Scottsdale, Ariz./Notre Dame Prep) won the 200 yard IM in 2:20.72, and was part of the 200 yard medley relay team that finished second in 2:02.10  She was joined by Alex Page, Victoria Wu, and Lauren Kauffman

Smith Overview:  The Pioneers are back in action for the first time in 2013, after a successful training trip to Puerto Rico.  Last time in the pool, Smith had eight members of the team become Iron Women, competing in 19 events at the Mount Holyoke Invitational on December 1, including Paige Christie (N. Andover, Mass./Austin Prep), who did it for the second consecutive year.

Wellesley Overview: The Blue have already been in competition this year, taking a double-dual meet against NEWMAC foes Babson College and Coast Guard Acadmy on Jan. 9.  The Blue had five athletes pick up victories, led by Dorothy Ren, who wonn three events. Other multiple winners were Hayley Goydan and Gabriela Kovacikova, as well as Charlotte Harris. Wellesley also got a win from Anne Hamilton and swept the relay events.
