Game Preview: Field Hockey vs. Babson

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--The Smith College field hockey team (9-2, 2-2 NEWMAC) heads east to take on Babson College (7-5, 3-1 NEWMAC) on Saturday.  The game, scheduled for 1:30 pm,  will be played at Dedham Field at Northeastern University.

Last Meeting:  Babson handed Smith a 7-0 loss on October 13, 2012.

The Series:  Smith leads 18-15-1, but the Beavers have won the last six meetings.   The teams have met in the postseason eight times.

Fast Facts:  Babson is coming off a 2-1 loss to No. 14 Wellesley...that loss ended a five game winning streak...the Beavers are the defending regular season champions, but were upset in the semifinals of the NEWMAC tournament...Smith ended a two game losing streak with a 10-1 win over Western New England University...Allie Stein (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) scored four goals and set up two more to become Smith's all-time leading scorer...with 188 points, Stein now ranks 23rd all-time in NCAA Division III history in scoring, and fourth in NEWMAC/NEW8 history...the only conference players that have scored more are listed below...
