NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--The Smith College field hockey team (10-4) plays their final regular season home game when the Pioneers host Amherst College (10-2) on Thursday afternoon.  The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
Last Meeting: Amherst posted a 5-1 win over Smith on October 18, 2012.
The Series:  Amherst leads the series 23-10-3, and has won the last 17 meetings between the two teams.
Fast Facts: The Jeffs have won 10 straight after opening the year with two overtime losses...six of those wins have been by shutout...Amherst advanced to the NCAA tournament in 2009 and 2011...Katie Paolano and Madeline Tank top the scoring charts with 10 goals apiece...This is the second to last non-conference game for Smith...Smith is facing a NESCAC opponent for the first time this year...The Pioneers are facing their fourth ranked opponent of the season and second in as many games...a Smith win would give the team the most since the 1993 squad went 15-3, which was also the last time the Pioneers had a winning season...this is just the seventh winning season in school history since the beginning of NEW8/NEWMAC field hockey in 1987.
