NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--The Smith College swimming and diving team faces two current conference opponents and one former one in a quadrangular meet at Worcester Polytechnic Institute on Saturday. The Pioneers will face the Engineers, along with Babson College and Brandeis University in individual dual meets.
The Engineers: This is the second home meet of the season for WPI, who opened a new swimming and diving facility in 2012. WPI will host the NEWMAC Championships next February. WPI defeated Bentley in the first dual meet of the year.
The Beavers: Babson is 1-1 on the year, winning a dual meet with UMass-Dartmouth, but falling to Clark. Babson picked up wins from Erica Ricciardi in the 50 free and 100 back, as well as the 400 freestyle relay.
The Judges: This is the first meet for Brandeis since October 26, when they took part in the University Athletic Association Invitational. This is just the second season of swimming and diving at Brandeis since the program was restarted.
The Pioneers: Smith opened the season at the Smith Relays last weekend.
Cecelia Arrison (Weathersfield, Vt./Stevens (N.H.)) was named NEWMAC Diver of the Week after a second place finish on the 3-meter board and a career best score on the 1-meter board.
Next Up: Smith faces another NEWMAC team, Springfield College, on November 12 at 7 p.m.
