NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--The Smith College field hockey team (1-0) makes its fourth straight trip to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., to take part in the Betty Richey Tournament this weekend. Smith opens the competition against Bay Path (0-1), and will face either Vassar College (1-0) or Manhattanville College (1-1) in the consolation or championship game.

Last Meeting (Bay Path): Smith romped past the Wildcats, 11-0 in the consolation game of this tournament a year ago.
Allie Stein (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) scored six times for Smith.
Last Meeting (Vassar): Smith fell to the Brewers by a 6-2 score on September 9, 2011. Smith last beat Vassar in 2006, with a 1-0 overtime victory.
Last Meeting (Manhattanville): The Valiants sneaked past Smith, 3-1, in the opening game of the 2012 edition of this tournament. Smith has beaten Manhattanville once, a 2-1 victory in 1982.
The Series: Smith leads the all-time series with Bay Path 2-0, and has won 13 of 23 meetings all-time with Vassar. Smith also holds a 2-1-1 advantange in the series with Manhattanville.
Fast Facts: Smith last advanced to the championship game of this tournament in 2010...this is the second straight tournament for Manhattanville, who played in the Southern Maine Invitational last weekend...Bay Path head coach Katie Jones is a graduate of the Exercise and Sport Studies program at Smith...The tournament is named for Betty Richey, who coached tennis, field hockey and squash in a 41 year career at Vassar.
Next Up: Smith returns home to host Daniel Webster College on September 12. Bay Path will be at Colby-Sawyer on September 13. Vassar plays Kean (NJ) on September 10, and Manhattanville will host Mercy on September 11.
