NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – In an impressive overall team performance, Smith swimming and diving won 12 events in a 172-115 victory over Westfield State Saturday.
Six different Pioneers were event winners, led by seniors
Paige Christie (N. Andover, Mass./Austin Prep) and
Alyssa Pascuzzo (Scottsdale, Ariz./Notre Dame Prep).
Christie was the winner in the 200 butterfly (2:26.24) and 200 back (2:23.25), while Pascuzzo placed first in both the 200 Free (2:04.1) and 200 butterfly (1:02.76).
Other individual winners for the Pioneers were junior
Claire Dudek (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) in the 500 Free (5:41.03) and the 1000 free (11:37.54), sophomore
Erika Schroeder (Houston, Texas/Memorial) in the 100 back (1:05.41) and 100 free (1:00.19), junior
Christine Hart (Rexford, N.Y./Niskayuna) in both the 100 breast (1:15.63) and 200 breast (2:43.87) and junior
Laura Nunnelly (Amherst, Mass./Amherst) in the 200 IM (2:29.01).
In diving, junior
Anna Partridge (Seattle, Wash./Mercer Island) placed second in both the one and three-meter boards. Patridge just missed the NCAA qualifying standard in the 3m by less than two points, finishing the event with 263.20 points.
Additionally, Smith's 200 Medley Relay team of Schroeder, Hart, Pascuzzo and junior
Meredith Millman (Syosset, N.Y./Jerich) took first with a time of 2:00.42.
The Pioneers will next compete at the WPI Gompei Invitational on Dec. 6-7 in Worcester, Mass.
