NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The Smith College swimming and diving team earned an impressive 142-98 win over Elms College Tuesday evening. Competing in 15 events, the Pioneers recorded 11 first place performances.
ResultsThe 200 yard medley team of
Laura Nunnelly (Amherst, Mass./Amherst),
Leah VanHoeve (Annville, Ky./Homeschool),
Desi Stoyanovich (Bulgaria) and
Erin Walch (Alexandria, Ky./Academy of Math & Science) started off the meet with a win for the Pioneers with a time of 2:06.33. That would set the tone as Smith would take first in the next nine events.
Meri Millman finished over eight seconds ahead of her opponent in the 200 free (2:13.03), while
Carolyn Taylor (Dallas, Texas/Hockaday School) edged out Ashlee Connors in the 100 back with a time of 1:10.07. The Pioneers would claim consecutive victories in the 100 breast, 100 fly and 50 free.
Although there were no Elms divers competing, the Smith competitors turned in impressive performances led by Elly Stone's first place finish in the 1-meter and CeCe Arrison's triumh in the 3-meter.
Smith returns to the pool on Saturday, November 21 when they host Westfield State University at 1 p.m.
