NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - A successful day in the pool was highlighted by 28 season best times as the Smith College swimming and diving team topped Westfield State 167-110 Saturday afternoon in Dalton Pool.
FULL RESULTSSmith won 11 out of 16 events on the afternoon.
Desi Stoyanovich (Bulgaria) got the Pioneers rolling with her dominating performance in the 1000 free (11:19.24) good for over 15 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
Meredith Millman (Syosset, N.Y./Jerich) swam a time of 2:10.18 in the 200 free and 58.62 in the 100 free for first place finishes, while
Leah VanHoeve (Annville, Ky./Homeschool) (1:15.58) and
Hannah Francis (Chicago, Ill./Walter Payton Prep) (1:15.97)Â went 1-2 in the 100 breast.
The trio of Stoyanovich (2:17.27),
Abby Bergman (Culver City, Calif./Vistamar) (2:26.18) and
Claire Dudek (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) (2:48.97) swept the 200 fly for Smith and
Abby Onos (South Portland, Maine/South Portland) edged out a Westfield competitor by .82 seconds in the 50 free with a time of 27.12.
Tyra Wu (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad),
Hannah Francis (Chicago, Ill./Walter Payton Prep), Dudek and Stoyanovich won consecutive events for the Pioneers in the 200 back, 200 breast, 500 free, and 100 fly.
Anna Partridge (Seattle, Wash./Mercer Island) made her first NCAA qualifying score of the season as she finished second in the 1-meter dive with a score of 268.75. Elly Stone placed first and CeCe Arrison was third with scores of 280.75 and 263.80, respectively.
The Pioneers travel to Clinton, N.Y. on December 4-5 to compete in the Hamilton College Invitational.
