FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

• The Smith College field hockey team hosts No. 14 MIT in a rematch of last season's 2016 NEWMAC semifinals...Smith won the 2016 regular season meeting, 1-0.

 

• In the last four meetings, no team has won by more than one goal.

 

• Smith was selected to finish 3rd in the NEWMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll while the Engineers were picked 2nd.

 

• MIT is coming off just their second loss of the season, a 4-2 defeat to No. 8 Amherst.

 

• Freshman goalkeeper Grace Moore was named the NFHCA Division III Defensive Player of the Week, becoming the first student-athlete in program history to earn the national honor. Moore ranks second in the NEWMAC in goals against average (1.42) and is tied for the lead with four shutouts.
