FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

  • The Smith College field hockey team hits the road for the first time this season, as the Pioneers travel to No. 10 Trinity on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
 
  • Senior goalkeeper Cameo Tietje (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) started both games in net for Smith this past weekend, and posted 13 saves against SUNY Cortland while being named to the Caryl Newhof Classic All-Tournament Team. Tietje is now fifth in program history with seven shutouts and seventh with 289 career saves.
   
  • Head Coach Jaime Ginsberg enters her 10th season at the helm of the Pioneers and is seven wins away from 75 in her career at Smith.
 
  • Coached by Anne Parmenter in her 17th season, Trinity is ranked No. 10 nationally in the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Preseason Coaches Poll. The Bantams return Kelcie Finn, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Division III Player of the Year and NFHCA All-Regional junior forward Chandler Solimine, who combined for 108 points last fall.
