NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - Senior
Alex Larosee (Warwick, R.I./The Wheeler School) netted a hat trick to propel the Smith College field hockey team to a 6-0 win over Clark University Saturday afternoon in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action. With the victory, Smith improves to 11-7 overall and 5-3 in conference play. Clark's season comes to an end with a 7-11, 0-8 record. Prior to the game, Smith honored their seven seniors:

HOW THEY SCORED
12:43 - SMITH - Junior
Anna Ballou (Deerfield, Mass./Deerfield Academy) dribbled the ball into the circle and dished it to the left to find Larosee who swept it past the Clark keeper.
30:44 - SMITH - Chaudoin collected a rebound from the keeper at the right side of the circle and rifled it to the back of the net.
31:39 - SMITH - Biggs stole the ball from the Clark offense at the 50 and carried the ball up the field and into the circle to find junior
Morgan Handwerger (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) at the stroke mark. Handwerger controlled the ball and slid it to the left side of cage.
39:53 - SMITH - On a Pioneer corner, sophomore
Sammie Pavlov (Royersford, Pa./Westtown School) sent the insertion pass to Larosse who blasted a shot for her second goal of the game.
49:30 - SMITH - Larosee completed the hat trick when she gained control of the ball turned around her defender and slid passed the keeper.
65:59 - SMITH - Junior
Maddie Ryan (Scituate, Mass./Scituate) completed the scoring for the Pioneers on another successful corner opportunity. McGowan inserted the ball to Ryan who took a direct shot on cage.
NOTABLE
- Larosee's hat trick brings her season total to seven goals.
- Chaudoin scored a goal and added a defensive save on a Clark shot with no time left in the second half.
- Ryan's goal was the second of the season, while Handwerger tallied her seventh of the year.
- Ballou leads the Pioneers with eight assists.
- Smith dominated the game, owning a 19-6 advantage in shots and 11-6 margin in corners.
- Pioneer goalkeeper Channy Cornell (Arlington, Tex./The Oakridge School) finished with two saves, while Clark goalie Dani Michaud registered nine stops.
