First year Margaret Robb broke open a tight game with back-to-back goals, helping Mount Holyoke to a 4-1 win over Smith on October 20 in Hadley. Junior Alex Larosee (Warwick, R.I./The Wheeler School) scored the lone goal for the Pioneers on an assist from Sammie Pavlov (Royersford, Pa./Westtown School).
LAST SMITH WIN
Sophie Chase (Milton, Mass./Milton) and Alex Larosee (Warwick, R.I./The Wheeler School) each tallied a goal in Smith's 2-0 victory over the Lyons on October 19, 2017. Pioneer goalkeeper Cam Tietje made six stops in the shutout and Beatrice Chaudoin (Millersville, Md./Severna Park) registered two defensive saves.
SCOUTING THE LYONS
Sixth-seeded Mount Holyoke (9-9) has lost two-straight games entering tonight's playoff game. The Lyons closed out the regular season with a 3-2 overtime loss to WPI on October 27. Senior midfielder Kristina Ramsden leads the offense with 12 goals and five assists for 29 points. Goalkeeper Morgan Turner has started 18 games and owns a 2.62 goals against average and .690 save percentage.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
Smith has earned the No. 3 seed in the NEWMAC Tournament for the second-consecutive season. The Pioneers earned the No. 3 seed with their 6-0 victory over Clark on October 27. In that game, Alex Larosee (Warwick, R.I./The Wheeler School) netted a hat trick and goalkeeper Channy Cornell (Arlington, Tex./The Oakridge School) collected her third shutout of the season. Pavlov is having her best year offensively with nine goals and three assists, while junior Anna Ballou (Deerfield, Mass./Deerfield Academy) ranks third in the NEWMAC with seven assists this season. Cornell enters tonight's game with a 1.75 goals against average and .656 save percentage.
