WHAT'S AT STAKE
The winner of Saturday's match will play the winner of the Salisbury vs. Washington and Jefferson game on Sunday, November 11 at 1:00 p.m. in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals.

THE SERIES
Smith and Tufts will meet for the third time on Saturday in a series that dates back to 1983. The Pioneers are 0-2 all-time against the Jumbos.

SCOUTING THE JUMBOS
NCAA Tournament Appearance: 10th
Last NCAA Tournament Appearance: 2016
  • The Jumbos received an at-large berth into the NCAA's after finishing as the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) runner-up this fall. 
  • The team's only two losses are to conference champion Middlebury College, who was announced as an NCAA Regional host. 
  • Tufts won the 2012 national title under Coach Tina Mattera, and the Jumbo program has a 15-8 overall mark in NCAA Tournament play. They were the national runner-up in 2008 and a semi-finalist in 2009.
  • Seniors Issy Del Priore (first team), Gig Tutoni (second team) and Fallon Shaughnessy (second team) earned NESCAC All-Conference honors this season. 
  • Del Priore recorded a team-high five defensive saves, which was second in the NESCAC, while Tutoni leads the Jumbos with 12 goals in 2018. 
  • Freshman goalkeeper Andie Stallman owns an .875 save percentage and 0.23 goals against average.
  • Tufts averages 2.6 goals per game and have shutout opponents 11 times this year.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS

  • Smith earned an automatic bid to this year's tournament after capturing their first-ever NEWMAC Championship on Saturday with a 2-1 OT win over MIT. 
  • The Pioneers advanced to the second round with their 1-0 win over No. 10 Montclair State in the first round on Wednesday night.
  • In that game, junior Neva Richardson (Rehoboth Beach, Del./St. Andrew's School) scored on an assist from senior Alex Larosee (Warwick, R.I./The Wheeler School).
  • Senior Beatrice Chaudoin (Millersville, Md./Severna Park) was selected to the NEWMAC All-Conference first team, while junior Sammie Pavlov (Royersford, Pa./Westtown School) earned second team honors for the first time in her career.
  • Pavlov leads the team with 11 goals and 26 points followed by junior Anna Ballou's (Deerfield, Mass./Deerfield Academy) six goals and a team-best seven assists.
  • First-year goalkeeper Channy Cornell (Arlington, Tex./The Oakridge School) has 84 saves on the season with a .712 save percentage and 1.54 goals against average.
  • Smith is averaging 2.68 goals per game.
