NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - At their final home dual meet, seniors
Julianna Alvord (Ivoryton, Conn./Valley Regional) and
Desi Stoyanova (Plovdiv, Bulgaria/English Language) lit up the pool with multiple first place finishes against Wellesley. Despite a number of strong performances, the Pioneers fell to the Blue 184-114.
Seniors
Jane Kuntz (River Forest, Ill./Oak Park and River Forest), Alvord and Stoyanova were recognized at the meet prior to the first event.
SWIMMING HIGHLIGHTS
- Stoyanova earned the crown in both the 200 fly (2:24.11) and 200 breast (2:42.62).
- Charlotte Crandall (Lawrence, Kan./Free State) took the first win of the afternoon in the 1000 (11:43.45) followed by a 3rd place finish for Aidan Coffin Ness (Madison, Wisc./Madison East), marking a season best time of 12:06.99.
- First year Sarah Bridges (Columbia, Md./Atholton) shined shaving nearly 10 seconds off of her best time in the 500 Freestyle (6:02.84).
- Katherine Anderson (Williamsburg, Mass./The Academy at Charlemont) also clocked a lifetime best in her 200 Breaststroke. Her time of 2:49.62 was an 8 second drop from her previous time.
- The Pioneers finished the meet with a win by Crandall, Tjasa Kmetec (Palo Alto, Calif./Henry M. Gunn), Elizabeth Nesmith, and Paula Torre-Nieto (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Panther Creek) in the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:47.15.
DIVING HIGHLIGHTS
- Alvord won on both the 1-meter (202.10) and 3-meter boards (175.50).
- Lauren Low (New Haven, Conn./Engineering & Science University Magnet) placed second on the 3-meter (147.40) and fourth on the 1-meter (143.58).
- Hannah Chang (Great Neck, N.Y./Great Neck South) rounded out the top-three with her score of 158.60 on the 1-meter.

The Pioneers will be competing next week in Dalton Pool as they host the final Seven Sisters Championship January 19-20.
