NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The Smith College swimming & diving team won 11 events en route to a 184-116 victory over Mount Holyoke College Saturday afternoon at Dalton Pool. Highlighting the meet was senior
Shoshana Werblow (Ashland, Ore./Ashland) who qualified for the NCAA Regional Diving Meet with her score on the 1-meter.
SWIMMING HIGHLIGHTS
- In the opening 200 medley relay, Nell Tarno (Moretown, Vt./Harwood Union) got the team off to a strong start and Elisabeth Nesmith (Danville, Ky./Danville), Kristin Cirulli (Edgewood, Ky./Villa Madonna Academy), and Paula Torre-Nieto (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Panther Creek) held off the Lyons as the Pioneers touched in 1:57.80.
- In the 1000 free, the distance trio of Sarah Bridges (Columbia, Md./Atholton), Aidan Coffin Ness (Madison, Wisc./Madison East), and Haley December Brown (Kewadin, Mich./Lake Highland Prepatory School) finished first through third in times of 11:36.46, 11:44.52, and 12:07.75, respectively.
- Nesmith (1:13.76) and Coffin Ness (1:19.75) were first and third in the 100 breast.
- Cirulli earned wins in the 100 fly (1:02.47), 200 fly (2:15.88) and 200 IM (2:20.31), while Torre-Nieto placed first in the 50 free (25.83) and 100 free (57.51).
- In the 200 breast, Nesmith (2:41.28) and Grace Apodaca (Kansas City, Kan./Shawnee Mission East) (2:46.53) finished first and second for the Pioneers.
- Sarah Bridges (Columbia, Md./Atholton) swam to the top time in the 500 free (5:40.34).
- To put an exclamation mark on the meet, Apodaca, Virginia Griswold (Clarkesville, Ga./Tallulah Falls), Bridges and Nesmith cruised to victory in the 400 free relay.
DIVING HIGHLIGHTS
- Werblow placed second on the 1-meter with her score of 252.90 followed by Hannah Chang's (Great Neck, N.Y./Great Neck South) fifth place finish (173.24).
- On the 3-meter, Werblow accumulated 249.97 points for second place, while Chang recorded a fifth place score of 182.32.

Smith will turn their focus to the NEWMAC Championships hosted by MIT February 20-23.
