NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The Smith College soccer program fell at home to Springfield College, 3-1, in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) matchup Wednesday afternoon. First-year Parker Ellis (Chicago, Ill./Jones College Prep) has scored in three consecutive games for the Pioneers.

SCORING SUMMARY
  • 22:39 - SMI 0 SPR 1 - Kellie Smith controlled a pass inside the box and slipped the ball into the right side of the goal
  • 37:04 - SMI 0 SPR 2 - Kaleiigh Dale connected with Jen Walker to double Springfield's lead 
  • 49:01 - SMI 0 SPR 3 - Nicole Sweeney knocked in her second goal of the season off a pass on the left side from Heather Jennato
  • 86:56 - SMI 1 SPR 3 - Smith finally got on the board in the final five minutes took a feed from Kelsey Cahill (Littleton, Colo./Heritage)
GAME NOTES
  • Smith had an opportunity to take an early lead in the ninth minute but Zufan Bazzano's (Great Barrington, Mass./Monument Mountain) shot on an open net hit the right post
  • In the final minute of the game, the Pioneers continued to pepper the Springfield keeper and hit the post on a shot from Piper Thompson (Jersey City, NJ/NEST+M). Bazzano got the rebound off the save and looking to score but Taryn Ryan made the save for the visitors
  • Senior goalkeeper Naomi Falkenberg (Sutton, Mass./Sutton) recorded 10 saves in the setback
  • The Pride held an 18-12 advantage in shots and 3-2 edge in penalty corners
