Pioneers Cruise Past Westfield State, 166-101

WESTFIELD, Mass. - The Smith Colege swimming and diving team earned a 166-101 victory over Westfield State Friday evening at Ely Pool. The Pioneers won 12 events and were led by Caroline Kolmodin's (Mountainside, NJ/Academy for Allied Health Sciences Union County) three wins, while Julia Petrino (Fort Collins, CO/Poudre Global Academy) and Julie Xiong (Shanghai, China/Wilbraham and Monson Academy) each won two.

Highlights
  • Kolmodin placed first in the 50 free (25.72), 100 free (55.56) and 50 fly (27.75)
  • Petrino clocked in winning times in the 500 free (5:29.28) and 200 free (2:03.62)
  • Xiong touched the wall first in the 200 fly (2:12.45) and the 200 breaststroke (2:37.92)
  • Hannah Chang (Great Neck, N.Y./Great Neck South) registered the top score on the 1-meter board of 169.25
  • The 200 medley relay team of Elizabeth Kidder (Hilton, NY/Hilton), Xiong, Abby McIlrath and Elisabeth Nesmith (Danville, Ky./Danville) placed first with a time of 158.63
