NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - Sophomore
Julie Xiong (Shanghai, China/Wilbraham and Monson Academy) broke the school record in both the 100 fly and 200 fly as the Smith College swimming and diving team fell to Wellesley, 190-107 Saturday afternoon.
Highlights
- Xiong swam 58.32 and 2:06.35 in the 100 fly and 200 fly, respectively, to win each event.Â
- Her time in the 100 fly broke Maureen McMahon's record of 58.36 from 1984 and her time in the 200 fly broke Kirsten Ciruilli's record of 2:09.18 set in 2020
- Julia Petrino (Fort Collins, CO/Poudre Global Academy) won two events, the 200 back (2:28.87) anf the 1000 free in 11:15.00
- Hannah Chang (Great Neck, N.Y./Great Neck South) recorded a lifetime best score of 220.20 on the 1-meter and placed second in the 3-meter (194.40)
