Eva Kinnel's (Newtown, Penn./George School) goal off a
Grace Moorhead (Cranston, R.I./The Wheeler School) assist gave fifth-seeded Smith College a 1-0 victory on the road against fourth-seeded Springfield College in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament quarterfinal game Tuesday night at Stagg Field.
Smith snaps a five-game skid to improve to 9-10 overall and advances to the conference tournament semifinal for the first time since 2018. Springfield's season comes to an end at 9-10.Â

- The Pioneers had their best chance of the opening quarter when Moorehead unleashed a reverse sweep from inside the circle, only to have the Springfield keeper make a kick save to keep the game scoreless
- Smith was able to deliver the game's only goal just over three minutes into the second half as Moorhead connected with Kinnel off a penalty corner as she buried her shot from the left wing
- The Pride finished the game with an 8-4 edge in shots and took six of the game's eight penalty corners
- Rory Harper (Wayne, Penn./Radnor) made three stops for the Pioneers in the victory and records her fourth shutout of the year
