SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - The Smith College swimming and diving team fell to Mount Holyoke College in a battle among New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foes on Saturday afternoon. The final score was 163-131.

- Of the nine victories for Smith, Julie Xiong (Shanghai, China/Wilbraham and Monson Academy) came away with three, while Caroline Kolmodin (Mountainside, NJ/Academy for Allied Health Sciences Union County) (2) and Julia Petrino (Fort Collins, CO/Poudre Global Academy)Â added a pair each
- Smith started off the meet strong with a win in the 200 medley relay as Emily Woo Kee (El Paso, Tex./Coronado), Abby McIlraith (Portland, Ore./Sunset), Kolmodin and Petrino recorded a winning time of 1:59.59
- Xiong claimed victories in the 200 fly (2:13.11), 200 breast (2:36.68) and 100 fly (1:01.95)
- Kolmodin continued an impressive year by placing first in the 1000 free (10:58.56) and the 200 IM (2:19.13)
- Petrino finished first in the 200 free (2:01.71) and the 500 free (5:26.95)
- Eisabeth Nesmith added a victory for the Pioneers with the top time in the 100 breast (1:14.83)
- Hannah Chang (Great Neck, N.Y./Great Neck South) placed fifth on the 1 meter board (186.15) and fourth on the 3-meter (178.12)

The Pioneers will now turn their focus to the NEWMAC Championships which take place Thursday, February 17 through Sunday, February 20 on the campus of MIT.Â
