How it Happened
- The Engineers got on the board 44 seconds into the first quarter as McIntyre took a pass from Radler.
- Smith held MIT off for about eight minutes, where sophomore goalkeeper Rory Harper (Wayne, Penn./Radnor) recorded three saves.
- MIT posted a second goal as Dattero sent a pass to Forester to score the second goal of the afternoon.
- Smith's defense kept the Engineers out of the net for the remainder of the quarter as MIT was granted three corners but were unable to notch a shot on goal.
- The Pioneers started the second quarter off with a goal from Grace Moorhead (Cranston, R.I./The Wheeler School) after a pass from Eva Kinnel (Newtown, Penn./George School).
- Smith continued to keep the Engineers out of the net as Harper recorded two saves and Coco Cornell (Arlington, Texas/The Oakridge School) notched a defensive save.
- Six minutes into the third period MIT recorded their third goal of the afternoon as Ladd posted an unassisted tally
- Five minutes into the final quarter Smith cut the lead down to one as Laura Dreher (Durham, N.H./Durham) sent a pass to Annika Peterson (Forest Hill, MD/North Harford) to find the back of the goal.
- MIT responded with an unassisted goal by Oppenheim minutes later.
