SPRINGFIELD - The Smith College soccer team got back in the win column after defeating Western New England University 1-0 behind a penalty goal scored by Madelyn Boyle (Milford, Mass./Milford) Wednesday afternoon. The Pioneers moved to 3-1-2 on the year, while the Golden Bears dipped to 3-3-1.

"Today's win was a product of a tremendous team effort," said junior defender Madelyn Boyle (Milford, Mass./Milford). "Each time we've stepped on the field, we've improved and become more of a cohesive unit. We are so excited for the rest of the season."
