NORTHAMPTON - The Smith College swimming & diving team won 10 events as the Pioneers defeated Simmons University 161-68 on Friday evening in Dalton Pool. With the victory, head coach Devin Javens picks up her first career win.
Grace Magee (Portland, OR/Oregon Episcopal) and
Caroline Kolmodin (Mountainside, NJ/Academy for Allied Health Sciences Union County) each won two individual events and
Katherine Welsh (St. Paul, MN/Saint Paul Academy) swept the 1-meter and 3-meter, earning two qualifying scores to punch her ticket to the NCAA Diving Regional Meet.

- Magee won the event in 11:11.74
200-Yard Free
- Kolmodin finished in 2:03.72 for first place and Cady Dorrian (Jacksonville, FL/Douglas Anderson School of the Arts) touched the wall second in 2:10.65
50-Yard Free
200-Yard IM
- Maddie Milla (Nyack, NY/Nyack) won the event in 2:23.99 followed by McIlraith in 2:28.49
1-Meter Diving
- Katherine Welsh (St. Paul, MN/Saint Paul Academy) won the event with a season-best score and NCAA regional mark of 291.07
200-Yard Fly
- Sofia Moran (Philadephia, PA/Friends' Central School) took first with a time of 2:24.24
200-Yard Backstroke
- Smith took the top two spots, led by Magee with a time of 2:13.55
500-Yard Free
- Kolmodin claimed first in 5:30.59 followed by Lyla Metcalf (South Portland, ME/South Portland) in 6:07.47
3-Meter Diving
- Welsh won the event with an NCAA Regional mark of 276.75 points
200-Yard Breaststroke
- McIlraith took first in 2:40.67 and Milla came in second in 2:44.79
Up Next
Smith travels to WPI on Friday, November 3 and will compete against the host Engineers, Babson, Brandeis and Coast Guard.
