NORTHAMPTON - The Smith College field hockey team suffered a 3-1 loss to Springfield College in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship Quarterfinals on Tuesday night.
Smith's season comes to a close with an 8-11 record, while the Pride improved to 10-9 and advance to the NEWMAC Championship Semifinals at Babson on Thursday.

	- 12:07 SMI 0 SPR 1 - Audrey Hayes collected a ball that crossed in front of the goalkeeper and sent it to the back of the cage
 
	- 44:29 SMI 0 SPR 2 - The Pride doubled its lead on a corner with less than a minute to go in the third period. Audrey Dolan took the the corner insert, dribbled right and ripped a shot from the top of the circle
 
	- 49:17 SMI 1 SPR 2 - Smith ended the shutout when Coco Cornell (Arlington, TX/The Oakridge School) took a pass from Elena Korinek (Stonington, CT/Stonington) and found the back of the net on a corner in the fourth period
 
	- 58:27 SMI 1 SPR 3 - The Pride put the game away late in the period as Hayes corralled a rebound off a shot and slipped it past Smith's keeper
 
Inside the Numbers
	- Smith finished the game with a 9-4 advantage in shots and took six of the game's 11 penalty corners
 
	- Remy Niland made three saves for the Pride in the win
 
	- Abby Halpin (Pine Bush, NY/Kent School) stopped two shots for the Pioneers
