WESTFIELD, Mass. - The Smith College cross country team claimed the team title for the third-consecutive year at the James Earley Invitational, hosted by Westfield University, on Saturday afternoon.
The Pioneers produced 57 points finishing ahead of Wesleyan in second place (80) and St. Michaels (133) in third. Salve Regina placed fourth with 161 points and St. Anselm (165) rounded out the top five.
"Our team performance today is a great way to head into our most competitive race of the season, up to this point, at Connecticut College next weekend," said Head Cross Country Coach
Ellen O'Neil. "We continue to lean on our upper class athletes for their experienced racing and at the same time we have been thrilled watching breakout races from many who were not on our NCAA qualifying teams from the last two years. The fun continues."
