NORTON - The Smith College field hockey team closed out the regular season with a 4-0 victory at Wheaton College in NEWMAC play. 

The Pioneers season comes to an end after a tiebreaker determined the final seedings.

Game Highlights

• Smith received goals from four different players in the victory
• Callahan Day (Shady Side, MD/Elizabeth Seton) opened the scoring just one minute into the second quarter when the Lyon keeper came off her line and Day was able to slip behind her with the ball
• Dreher collected a loose ball and lifted a shot into the upper right corner for a 2-0 lead
• Smith added an insurance goal with just over a minute left in the third period when Elena Korinek (Stonington, CT/Stonington) gathered the rebound for her second tally of the season
• Caroline McShea (Pittsburgh, PA/Oakland Catholic) got the final goal when she took a feed from Annika Peterson (Forest Hill, MD/North Harford) in the crease
• Emma Newman (Clarks Summit/Abington Heights) stopped five shots for the Pioneers
• Smith owned a 7-3 edge in corners and 25-9 advantage in shots
