NORTHAMPTON - Jenna Marsh (Barnstable, MA/Cape Cod Academy) scored on a penalty kick in the 78th minute and Sky Smith (Carlisle, MA/Concord-Carlisle Regional) made a career-high 14 saves in soccer's 2-1 loss to Babson in NEWMAC action on Wednesday afternoon. The Bears dip to 3-10-1 on the year with a 2-6 mark in the NEWMAC. The Beavers are now 7-2-5 overall and 6-1-1 in conference play. 

First Half Highlights

• Babson applied early pressure with a series of corner kicks, totaling four within a two-minute span.  
• Sky Smith (Carlisle, MA/Concord-Carlisle Regional) made crucial saves, notably stopping attempts from Mack Feeney and Lee to keep the game scoreless.  
• The Greena and White broke through in the 39th minute with a goal from DeMatos, giving them a 1-0 lead.  
• Smith concluded the first half trailing, despite Smith's five saves.

Second Half Highlights

• The Beavers took control early with several shots, leading to a goal by Sutherland in the 58th minute.  
• Sky Smith (Carlisle, MA/Concord-Carlisle Regional) made multiple saves for the Bears, including two consecutive stops against Sarah Hogan.  
• Smith's Marsh converted a penalty kick in the 78th minute to keep the contest close.  
• Despite late pressure from Babson, the Bears' defense held firm, with Smith recording multiple saves.
