Smith Cruises to 178-82 Win Over Eastern Connecticut

NORTHAMPTON - The Smith College swimming and diving won 13 events and cruised to a 178-82 win over Eastern Connecticut State Saturday afternoon inside Dalton Pool. The Pioneers now hold a 4-5 dual meet record this season. 

Meet Highlights
  • Jessie Wang (Princeton, NJ/Princeton), Emma Schultz (Hyattsville, MD/Elizabeth Seton), Maddie Milla (Nyack, NY/Nyack), and Madeleine Lucas (Salem, MA/Salem) helped the Pioneers set the tone for the day with a meet-opening victory in the 200 medley relay in 1:57.43
  • Wang went on to earn Smith victories in the 100 back (1:03.02), 200 back (2:14.39), and 100 fly (1:01.32)
  • Emma Schultz (Hyattsville, MD/Elizabeth Seton) also had an impressive day with wins in the 100 breast (1:12.44), 200 breast (2:36.02), and 200 IM (2:22.28)
  • Grace Magee (Portland, OR/Oregon Episcopal) coasted to a 40 second win in the 1000 free in 11:23.97
  • Madeleine Lucas (Salem, MA/Salem) took home a pair of first place finishes in the 50 free (26.47) and the 100 free (57.42)
  • Cady Dorrian (Jacksonville, FL/Douglas Anderson School of the Arts) (200 free - 2:08.73), Lola Errera (Dallas, TX/Adams) (200 fly - 2:28.36), and Carla Zeppetttella (500 free - 5:40.86) each picked up wins. 
  • To conclude the meet, Smith's team of Madeleine Lucas (Salem, MA/Salem), Zoe Chapin (Camas, WA/Camas), Dorian, and Lola Errera (Dallas, TX/Adams) touched the wall second in the 200 free relay in 1:48.74

Smith will recognize its seniors prior to the meet against Mount Holyoke College on Saturday, February 8 at 12:00pm.
