How it Happened 

• Smith's top doubles team of seniors Lili Goshgarian (Lake Forest, IL/Lake Forest) (Lake Forest, Ill.) and Clara Goshgarian (Lake Forest, IL/Lake Forest) (Lake Forest, Ill.) battled against MIT's Jay Lu and Chloe Zeng. After falling behind 4-1, the Pioneers closed the gap to 5-3 but ultimately fell 6-3.
• In the No. 2 doubles match, sophomores Marielle Sauber (The Woodlands, TX/The John Cooper School) and Sabrina Wang (Beijing, China/Princeton) held a narrow 3-2 lead before their MIT counterparts surged ahead, winning three consecutive games to take the set 6-4.
• The No. 3 doubles pairing of first-year Tabitha Bastress (Charlotte, VT/Champlain Valley Union High School) and sophomore Sophia Dube (Portland, OR/Oregon Episcopal School)  kept pace early, tied 3-3 with MIT's Megan Sun and Artemis Pados, but dropped the final three games to fall 6-3.
• MIT's Samets, playing at No. 4, started strong by winning the first three games against Smith's Wang and securing a 6-2 victory in the first set. She continued her momentum in the second set, taking a 4-0 lead before closing it out 6-1 for MIT's most competitive singles performance of the day.  
• At the top of the lineup, MIT's Zeng sealed the overall victory, overcoming Sauber with a 6-3, 6-2 result.
