NORTHAMPTON - The Smith College Bears are set to embark on an exciting 2025 cross country season under the guidance of Head Coach Jack Wood. As the team enters its second season with Coach Wood, they are eager to showcase their talents and build on the foundation laid last year. The Bears' schedule promises a series of competitive meets across several states, providing ample opportunity for the team to test their mettle against formidable opponents.
The season kicks off on August 30th at the Suffolk Invitational in Boston, MA, hosted at Highland Park. This opening meet sets the stage for the Bears to hit the ground running and establish their presence early in the season.
Following their debut, the team will head to Middletown, CT, on September 20th to compete in the Wesleyan Cardinal Invitational. This event is a key early-season test, allowing Smith to measure their progress against regional competitors.
A highlight of the season will be the Paul Short Invitational on October 4th in Bethlehem, PA. Known for its competitive field, this meet provides an excellent opportunity for the Bears to compete at a high level and gain valuable experience.
Mid-season, on October 11th, the team will participate in the James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State in Westfield, MA. The competition continues to heat up as they head to the Connecticut College Invitational in New London, CT, on October 18th.
The Bears will aim to peak at the NEWMAC Championships on November 1st, held at Highland Park and hosted by Wheaton College. This championship meet is a pivotal moment in the season, as the Bears vie for conference honors.
Should they qualify, the Bears will advance to the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships in Canton, NY, on November 15th, hosted by St. Lawrence. On the same day, they will also have the opportunity to qualify for the NCAA Championships in Spartanburg, SC, hosted by Converse College on November 22nd.
