AMHERST — The fourth-ranked Amherst soccer team defeated Smith College 2-1 on Sunday at Gooding Field, maintaining their unbeaten record at 3-0-0. The Bears dropped to 0-3-0 following the loss to the Mammoths.

"We can take away many positives from today's game," said head coach Kathy Brawn. "There were impressive moments - Sky Smith (Carlisle, MA/Concord-Carlisle Regional) had a phenomenal outing, thwarting Amherst's attempts throughout the contest. Jenna Marsh (Barnstable, MA/Cape Cod Academy) showed great composure and determination as she scored her first collegiate goal. This was our most complete effort to date. I'm proud of this group and how well they are gelling out in the field."

First Half Highlights 
- Sky Smith (Carlisle, MA/Concord-Carlisle Regional) from the Bears recorded five saves to keep the match scoreless.  
- Amherst attempted 11 shots, with four of them being on target.  
- Caroline Coletti of Amherst executed five corner kicks during the period.

- Jessica Lomo scored twice for Amherst, with assists from Sophia Haynes and Emma Darling.  
- Smith's Jenna Marsh (Barnstable, MA/Cape Cod Academy) equalized briefly with a goal assisted by Una Keller (Davis, CA/Davis).  
- Sky recorded two saves, including a notable block from a shot by Lomo and a save against Caroline Coletti.  
- Amherst maintained offensive pressure with seven total shots, including one hitting the crossbar by Becca Button.
