BABSON PARK - Senior midfielder
Una Keller (Davis, CA/Davis) scored the tying goal in the 89th minute to boost the Smith College soccer team to a 1-1 draw at Babson College Wednesday afternoon. The Bears are now 0-11-3 on the year and 0-6-2 in the NEWMAC. The Beavers move to 6-6-4 on the year with a 3-1-4 mark in the NEWMAC.
Game Highlights
- The Bears reached halftime tied 0-0, with RIley Cioffi-Smith stopping all three Babson shots on goal
- Smith kept Babson scoreless through two extended attacking stretches, and Babson finished with a 4-1 edge in corner kicks in the first half
- Priscilla-Rose Men-Martin put a low shot on goal from inside the box. Cioffi-Smith made the save, but Sarah Hogan punced on the rebound and tapped the ball into the empty yet to put the Beavers on the scoreboard
- The Beavers had multiple attempts to grab an insurance goal but Cioffi-Smith thwarted away any opportunity
- Smith earned a corner kick with a minute and a half remaining taken by Keala Barnes (Las Vegas, NV/Las Vegas Academy of the Arts) who served it into the box. Smith's shot was blocked by a defender and Keller buried the rebound to tie the game with 1:06 left on the clock
- Babson had a final chance with under 10 seconds in the match, but Cioffi-Smith made the save to preserve the draw
