Anouk Bosket (Jordanstown, Northern Ireland/Belfast Royal Academy) was named the NEWMAC Field Hockey Offensive Athlete of the Week, while junior defender
Isabel Johnson (Fort Worth, TX/Trinity Valley School) was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week following games played September 28 - October 4.
In a 2-0 week for the Smith College field hockey team, Bosket totaled two goals and four assists. Bosket finished with a goal and two assists against Dean College on Tuesday and followed that with a one goal, two assist effort in Saturday's NEWMAC victory over Clark. Bosket leads Smith with six assists this season which ranks third in the NEWMAC.
Johnson anchored the Smith defense, allowing just one goal and six shots on goal over the two games. Johnson also recorded a defensive save against Clark.
The Smith offense ranks first in the NEWMAC in goals (38), assists (23), and points (99) through 11 games this season.
The Bears have won four of its last five games, including three conference wins. They look to keep their winning prowess going heading into a NEWMAC road match on Tuesday, October 6 against Springfield College.
