Bosket Scores in Double Overtime to Lift Bears Over Springfield

SPRINGFIELD - Sophomore midfielder Anouk Bosket (Jordanstown, Northern Ireland/Belfast Royal Academy) scored the game-winner in double overtime to lift the Smith College field hockey team to a 2-1 win at Springfield College Tuesday evening. The Bears have won four-straight and improve to 7-5 on the year and a perfect 4-0 in the NEWMAC. The Pride drop to 6-5 on the year and 1-3 in conference action.

Game Highlights
  • Springfield struck first seven minutes into the opening quarter when Lily Bialack tipped in a pass from Rachel Simkewicz
  • Smith evened the match with a goal in the second quarter by Grace Webb (Asheville, NC/Asheville)
  • After a scoreless second half, the game went to overtime and the two teams played an even first period
  • Just over a minute in the second overtime, Bosket collected the ball off a save from the Springfield keeper and buried it for the win

  • Smith held a 17-14 advantage in shots and 12-7 edge in corners
  • Iseul Park (Ann Arbor, MI/Pioneer) made nine saves in goal for the Bears
