NORTHAMPTON, Mass. — Smith Tennis fell to Brandeis University 6-1 on Saturday. Smith Tennis secured a win in the No. 2 doubles match but captured only one singles victory at the No. 1 position.

Brandeis University secured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Rebecca Suarez and Mandy Reyes defeated Ava Emrich (Smyrna, Delaware/Tower Hill School) and Heidi Cambron (Sherbrooke, Canada/Champlain College Lennoxville) 6-0 on court one, while Avani Chitale and Chahana Budhbhatti claimed a 7-5 victory over Olivia Chin (Bayside, NY/Dominican Academy) and Emily Wang (Westford, MA/Westford Academy) on court three. The Bears earned a win at No. 2 doubles, with Ayla Hauser (Knoxville, TN/Bearden) and Natazya Simunyola (Lorton, VA/South County High School) prevailing 6-4 against Milana Sofizade and Nancy Zhang.

In singles play, the Bears' Ayla Hauser (Knoxville, TN/Bearden) delivered a hard-fought victory at No. 1 singles, overcoming Rebecca Suarez with a 5-7, 6-2, 6-0 result. However, Brandeis University responded with wins on the remaining courts. Mandy Reyes edged out Ava Emrich (Smyrna, Delaware/Tower Hill School) at No. 2 singles, 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, and Chahana Budhbhatti secured a win at No. 3 singles, defeating Heidi Cambron (Sherbrooke, Canada/Champlain College Lennoxville) 6-1, 7-6.

Brandeis University extended their lead with Nancy Zhang's 7-6, 6-2 victory over Emily Wang (Westford, MA/Westford Academy) at No. 4 singles. Avani Chitale added another point for Brandeis with a straight-sets win, 6-2, 6-2, over Olivia Chin (Bayside, NY/Dominican Academy) at No. 5 singles. Charly Saltz completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-1 decision against Isabel Benitez-Barro at No. 6 singles, finalizing Brandeis's 5-1 singles advantage.
