NORTHAMPTON - The Smith College soccer team has announced its schedule for the 2026 season. The Bears are set to play a 17-match regular-season slate, including nine home contests and 11 NEWMAC matches.
The Bears begin with three road games starting at UMass Boston on Tuesday, September 1. Smith then heads to New York for a pair of contests at Cortland (Sept. 5) and Ithaca (Sept. 6).
Kathy Brawn enters her fifth season at the helm of the soccer program and will be joined on the sidelines by assistant coaches Larissa DeSouza,
Kaleigh Quinn (Bristol, RI/St. Mary Academy), and
Chloe Colquhoun. The Bears return 18 student-athletes and welcome seven newcomers.
The Basics
- The schedule includes six non-conference games, and four different conferences are represented:
- Sept. 1 @ UMass Boston (LEC)
- Sept. 5 @ Cortland (SUNYAC)
- Sept. 6 @ Ithaca (Liberty League)
- Sept. 9 vs Wesleyan (NESCAC)
- Sept. 13 vs Amherst (NESCAC)
- Sept. 15 vs. Union (Liberty League)

Strength of Schedule
- The Bears play two teams that ended last season ranked in the top 25 of the the NCAA RPI rankings: No. 12 MIT, No. 24 Amherst
- Four of Smith's opponents played in the 2025 NCAA Soccer Tournament (Amherst, Cortland, MIT, Wesleyan)
Postseason
- The NEWMAC Tournament begins on Tuesday, November 3 with first round action taking place at the higher seeds. The semifinal round will be played on Thursday, November 5 followed by the championship game on Saturday, November 7.
