NORTHAMPTON - The Smith College field hockey team came up short against No. 5 Williams, losing 5-0 on Wednesday night. The Bears drop to 2-4 with the loss, whlie the Ephs imrpoved to 4-0.
Iseul Park (Ann Arbor, MI/Pioneer) had a strong performance against a nationally-ranked opponent, recording 19 saves.
Game Highlights
First Half
- The Bears spent the first quarter under sustained Williams pressure, with the Ephs scoring three times in the opening period
- Williams recorded nine shots, while Park made seven saves in the second period
- The Ephs added a goal in the final minutes of the half to make it 4-0
Second Half
- The Bears kept Williams off the scoreboard in the third quarter, with Park making six saves as Williams produced seven shots in the frame
- Early in the period, Park stopped a Williams chance off a penalty-corner sequence, and the Bears answered by earning a penalty corner from O'Connor at 32:47
- The visitors wasted no time in the fourth as they added a fifth goal less than two minutes into the frame

- Park's 19 saves were a career-high for the sophomore keeper
