NORTHAMPTON - The Smith College soccer team dropped a non-conference matchup to Amherst College Tuesday afternoon, 5-1. The Bears fall to 0-6-1 on the year, while the Mammoths even their record to 3-3.
Game Highlights
- Amherst generated most of the first-half pressure, outshooting the Bears 14-1 and earning all five corner kicks
- Caroline Coletti put the visitors on the board off a pass from Katerina Davis in the 26th minute
- Keala Barnes (Las Vegas, NV/Las Vegas Academy of the Arts) scored the Bears' lone shot in the 33rd minute off Melia Espinosa's (La Quinta, CA/La Quinta) assist, bringing the score to 1-1
- Allison Hayes and Amelie Zeitz added goals before the half to make the score 3-1 in favor of Amherst
- The Mammoths scored twice after halftime, including goals in the 81st and 90th minutes, to close out a 5-1 final.

- Amherst held a 21-3 advantage in shots and goal and 14-4 edge in corners
- Smith keeper Blair Pasarkar (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) made five saves in the first half. Riley Cioffi-Smith (North Branford, CT/Cheshire Academy) stopped eight shots in the second period
