Louie Bierwert begins her first season as the diving coach at Smith College.
Philosophy
Coach Louie is here for the athlete, not the other way around. Diving should enhance the student athlete's life, not be their life. Coach Louie works hard to help divers achieve their goals and to envision going beyond them with passion and eagerness to work hard, have fun, and building themselves and their team.
Experience
A diver for four years at Smith at the national level, class of 1988, coach Louie has over 16 years of cumulative coaching experience at the high school level at both the Williston Northampton School and Northampton High School. In addition, coach was a volunteer assistant coach and lead the strength and conditioning program for Smith's divers for 6 years. In her regular work, she is a personal trainer with a corrective exercise specialty.
Personal
Coach Louie loves all outdoor sports - skiing, waterskiing, mountain biking, SCUBA diving - you name it! She once dove from 10 meters into 10 feet of water while on fire as Captain Inferno at Riverside Park before it became Six Flags! Her favorite movie of all time is A Knight's Tale.
