Maya Lovre

Maya is in her second year with Smith Swim and Dive as a Graduate Assistant pursuing her Masters degree in Exercise in Sport Studies with the intent to coach collegiately. In her first year with Smith, the team broke two school records, set 33 top-10 times, and achieved 93 personal best performances. The Bears also broke Mt. Holyoke’s 26-year winning streak at the annual Sisters Invitational in January 2025, coming in first with 1146 points. Previously, Maya worked with KING Aquatic Club in Tacoma, Washington where she established a new Novice Age Group site team, ran the Novice teams year-round meet schedule. She coordinated with local Summer League teams to create and run Summer Dual and Championship competitions for Novice athletes. Additionally, she worked as an Assistant to KING Head Coach Alex Reed, working with the Olympic cycle group and coached two athletes to Olympic Trials in Summer 2024.

Philosophy
Maya believes that Confidence + Commitment = Success, so she emphasizes hard work every practice and trusting the work you have done will prepare you to race and compete. She centers on improving athletes' knowledge of their sport, explaining the purpose of every workout. She coaches because she is motivated by service to the athlete, helping them find success and fulfillment in their competitive journey.

Education
Maya earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a minor in Sport Psychology with academic honors from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington in 2023. She was a 4-year scoring member of the Swim team, and repeat finalist at the Northwest Conference Championships.

Personal
Outside of coaching, Maya loves trying new recipes at home, spending time with friends, or traveling to new places. Her favorite place she's been is Victoria BC.
