NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--The Smith College volleyball team (9-17, 1-7 NEWMAC) embarks on their final game of the season when they travel to play Worcester Polytechnic Institute (18-9, 4-4 NEWMAC) on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Last Meeting: WPI ended the season by beating Smith for the first time in
23 years, a 3-2 win on October 30, 2010.
Last Smith Win: Smith took a
four set victory over the Engineers on October 6, 2009.
Smith Overview: The Pioneers will look to close their season on a high, after tough losses to Amherst College and Clark University this week. A win for Smith would see them hit double-digits for the first time since the 2008 season.
WPI Overview: The Engineers currently
sit in fifth place, tied with Clark University with a 4-4 NEWMAC record. A win would cement their place in the NEWMAC tournament, but they still could qualify with a loss, depending on the results of Clark and Babson.
Smith Player to Watch: Rosa Drummond (Rye, N.H./Portsmouth) has 120 kills in her last seven matches, hitting the 20 mark three times.
WPI Player to Watch: Elyssa Dorenfeld has a team high 257 digs, good for 3.17 per game.
