NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--The Smith College soccer team (6-7, 3-4 NEWMAC) can close in on a NEWMAC playoff berth with a win against Clark University (7-7-1, 4-3 NEWMAC) on Saturday afternoon. It's the first of three games at home to close out the season for the Pioneers.
Last Meeting: Clark scored twice in the final 12 minutes to steal a 3-2 win from Smith on October 7, 2011.
Dalyn Houser (Atlanta, Ga./Galloway) had given Smith an early lead in the 18th minute, but Clark tied it up 10 seconds before halftime.
Meredith Peck (Plymouth, N.H./Holderness School) put Smith back in front 10 minutes into the second half before Clark's late goals.
Last Smith Win: Janine Olthuis netted the game winner 5:14 into overtime as Smith beat the Cougars 2-1 on October 17, 2007. Valerie Driscoll opened the scoring in the 8th minute for Smith, and Clark tied the game through Liz Adamcik 11th minute.
Smith Overview: Smith remained in the thick of the NEWMAC race with a 1-0 win over WPI on Tuesday night.
