NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--The Smith College volleyball team (6-17, 2-5 NEWMAC) is still mathematically alive for a berth in the NEWMAC tournament. The Pioneers will need to win their final two games, starting with tonight's matchup against Mount Holyoke (3-18, 0-7 NEWMAC) and get some help to qualify.
Last Meeting: Smith swept past the Lyons 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-15) back at the Seven Sisters Championship at Bryn Mawr earlier this year.
Smith Overview: The Pioneers have lost nine in a row, including a pair of five set defeats at the Volleyball Hall of Fame tournament this past weekend. Against Westfield State, Smith battled back from a 2-0 set deficit to force a fifth set, but fell 17-15, then lost in a back-and-forth contest against Brandeis.
Mount Holyoke Overview: The Lyons have lost 12 consecutive matches, nine of them coming by 3-0 scores. In addition to ending that streak, Mount Holyoke will be looking to end a nine game conference losing streak that dates back to the 2011 season
