NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--The Smith College volleyball team (5-7) will get a look at two upcoming NEWMAC opponents when they take part in the Seven Sisters Championship at Bryn Mawr College on Saturday and Sunday. Smith will face Mount Holyoke (3-7) and Vassar (10-5) on the opening day, and Wellesley (17-1) and Bryn Mawr (5-11) on Sunday.
Last Meeting (Mount Holyoke): Smith fell to the Lyons in a 3-2
(19-25, 26-24, 21-25, 26-24, 10-15) NEWMAC loss on October 18, 2011.
Last Smith Win (Mount Holyoke): Earlier in the 2011 season, Smith swept Mount Holyoke at the Seven Sisters Championship 3-0
(25-18, 25-20, 25-16).
Last Meeting (Vassar): The Brewers came back from a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2
25-21, 27-25, 21-25, 14-25, 11-15) at the 2011 Seven Sisters Championship.
Last Smith Win (Vassar): In a back-and-forth match, Smith captured a five set decision by scores of 27-30, 30-23, 24-30, 30-22, 15-13 on October 8, 2005.

Smith Overview: The Pioneers come into this weekend's action off a tough 3-2
(25-17, 25-27, 25-19, 21-25, 16-18) loss to WPI on Tuesday night. Smith rallied from two match points in the fifth set, but could not get the win.
Mount Holyoke Overview: The Lyons have lost three of four, the most recent which being a 3-0 loss to NEWMAC foe Springfield College. Win or loss, every match but one for the Lyons has been a sweep.
Vassar Overview: The Brewers, the lone co-ed school at the Seven Sisters Championship, are 6-5 since opening the season 4-0. Members of the Liberty League, Vassar is 3-2 on neutral courts.
Wellesley Overview: As evidenced by their record, the Blue have made a great start to the season. Wellesley won their first 14 matches, and their only loss was a five set match to UMass-Boston.
Bryn Mawr Overview: The host Owls have lost five of six, with the only win coming over McDaniel College. Bryn Mawr plays in the Centennial Conference, and has never finished in the top two at this tournament.
Smith Player to Watch: Bethany Ashworth (North Falmouth, Mass./Bourne) has 12 or more assists in her last seven contests, with a season high 20 against WPI.
Mount Holyoke Player to Watch: Junior Martina Kneifel has 66 kills and 70 digs this year, second and third most on the team, respectively.
Vassar Player to Watch: Setter Hilary Koenigs has 447 assists, averaging 9.31 per set.
Wellesley Player to Watch: Sydney Carfagno leads the squad with 206 kills.
Bryn Mawr Player to Watch: Rachel Ofili has 20 solo blocks and 37 block assists.
Did you know? This tournament is a return to Bryn Mawr for Smith graduate assistant coach Katie Merrill, who graduated from Bryn Mawr in 2012 and was a Seven Sisters All-Tournament selection in 2009 and 2011.
